But how exactly can neurosurgeons practice their procedures?<\/p>\n<p>Swiss start-up <a href=\"https:\/\/www.surgeonslab.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">SurgeonsLab<\/a> uses high-end technology instead of human and animal models, which are currently the norm. It has developed a device that simulates a neurosurgery in four dimensions (in space and time), allowing surgeons to practice in realistic conditions without exposing patients to any risk. The physical models used in the simulator are patient-specific and compatible with the existing clinical workflow in any hospital. SurgeonsLab\u2019s fully functional prototype has already been validated by 25 neurosurgeons from all over the world. The company is currently focusing on customer acquisition, market exploration and scaling up the production unit.<\/p>\n<p>SurgeonsLab is a spin-off of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.artorg.unibe.ch\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ARTORG Center for Biomedical Engineering Research<\/a> at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.unibe.ch\/index_eng.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">University of Bern<\/a>.
