{"id":13592,"date":"2020-07-28T12:31:03","date_gmt":"2020-07-28T10:31:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ggba.swiss\/an-international-centre-of-digital-innovation-to-be-established-in-geneva\/"},"modified":"2023-07-04T13:40:03","modified_gmt":"2023-07-04T11:40:03","slug":"an-international-centre-of-digital-innovation-to-be-established-in-geneva","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ggba.swiss\/en\/an-international-centre-of-digital-innovation-to-be-established-in-geneva\/","title":{"rendered":"An international Centre of Digital Innovation to be established in Geneva"},"content":{"rendered":"<h4>The International Telecommunication Union (ITU) and the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) of the United Arab Emirates have signed an agreement to establish a new center for digital innovation and transformation in Geneva.<\/h4>\n<p>Known as I-CoDI, this new center to be based in Geneva will help <a href=\"https:\/\/www.itu.int\/en\/ITU-D\/Conferences\/TDAG\/Pages\/I-CoDI.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ITU<\/a> Members, Sector Members and other key stakeholders to integrate innovation into their national development agendas and activities.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Innovation is at the heart of the digital revolution and an essential part of the fabric of ITU,&#8221; said ITU Secretary-General Houlin Zhao. &#8220;We welcome the decision by the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tra.gov.ae\/en\/home.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">TRA<\/a>, a long-standing partner of ITU, to establish its future International Centre of Digital Innovation in Geneva. It will help catalyze efforts to turn today&#8217;s digital revolution into a development revolution for all.&#8221;<\/p>\n<h4>At the heart of a global digital governance platform<\/h4>\n<p>I-CoDI builds on <a href=\"https:\/\/codi.ae\/home\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">CoDI<\/a>, the Centre of Digital Innovation launched by the UAE in 2013, as part of the UAE&#8217;s efforts in digital transformation and enhancing the digital journey of the UAE citizens and Government, through research, innovation, education, training, skills development, quality assurance and of advisory services.<\/p>\n<p>The choice to establish I-CoDI in Geneva is no coincidence. The canton is a recognized center of competence in the field of internet governance, home to key organizations such as the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.internetsociety.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Internet Society<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.icann.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ICANN<\/a>, the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) and the secretariat of the Internet Governance Forum.
