{"id":14162,"date":"2021-04-19T14:58:32","date_gmt":"2021-04-19T12:58:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ggba.swiss\/calcification-propensity-diagnostics-start-up-calciscon-raises-chf-2-5-million\/"},"modified":"2023-07-04T13:40:15","modified_gmt":"2023-07-04T11:40:15","slug":"calcification-propensity-diagnostics-start-up-calciscon-raises-chf-2-5-million","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ggba.swiss\/en\/calcification-propensity-diagnostics-start-up-calciscon-raises-chf-2-5-million\/","title":{"rendered":"Calcification propensity diagnostics start-up Calciscon raises CHF 2.5 million"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Founded in 2013 as a result of breakthrough research in renal medicine by\u00a0Andreas Pasch\u00a0who investigated why the blood vessels of kidney patients calcify rapidly, start-up <a href=\"https:\/\/calciscon.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Calciscon<\/a> has developed the T50 Calcification Propensity test (T50 test), the first functional test to assess the speed of calcification in the body.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/calciscon.com\/t50_explained\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">CE-marked T50 blood test<\/a> identifies patients with high cardiovascular risk and opens the possibility to guide therapies to slow down disease progression. This information helps doctors better guide therapies of kidney disease patients.<\/p>\n<p>Multiple studies indicate that T50-guided therapies slow down calcification propensity, and could significantly reduce cardiovascular complications, which remains the most common cause of morbidity and mortality among renal patients.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe T50 creates an unprecedented opportunity to reduce the extensive harm and healthcare costs associated with CV complications\u201d, explains Andreas Pasch, inventor of the T50 test and founder of Calciscon.<\/p>\n<p>The company has recently closed a CHF 2.5 million series A financing round, which will allow it to accelerate the introduction of its T50 test in routine clinical use in Europe, and prepare for a US launch.
