Whereas the genes, the DNA (DeoxyriboNucleic Acid), are well documented, and gene sequencing has become a commodity, the expression of genes, the RNA (RiboNucleic Acid), and their sequencing remains a major challenge.<\/p>\n<p>RNA sequencing (RNA-seq) technologies allow unbiased, high-content analyses of thousands of genes at once to accelerate the discovery of new drugs and biomarkers. However, the high cost of standard sample preparation for RNA-seq experiments restricts and prevents the use of gene expression analysis in studies involving large sample sets, such as high-throughput drug screening.<\/p>\n<p>To address this technological limitation,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.alitheagenomics.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Alithea Genomics<\/a>\u00a0has developed a proprietary sample preparation solution called \u201cBRB-seq\u201d, which drastically decreases costs while increasing the throughput of RNA-seq.<\/p>\n<p>Developed in Lausanne (canton of Vaud), in the heart of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.republic-of-innovation.org\/HealthValley\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Health Valley<\/a>, the start-up\u2019s technology enables projects that were previously unimaginable because they were too expensive and laborious.<\/p>\n<p>Having been awarded a CHF 150,000 loan from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.venturekick.ch\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Venture Kick<\/a>, Alithea Genomics will be able to expand its BRB-seq kit offering further and boost the revenues and services through dedicated marketing and sales activities.<\/p>\n<p>Moreover, part of the funds will be invested in the development of Alithea Genomics\u2019 next-gen solution, which will bring throughput and cost-efficiency of RNA-seq to yet another new level.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Lausanne-based Alithea Genomics has been awarded CHF 150&#8217;000 from Venture Kick for the development of its novel technology that enables a high throughput library preparation for RNA sequencing.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":3,"featured_media":14208,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_acf_changed":false,"inline_featured_image":false,"mc4wp_mailchimp_campaign":[],"footnotes":""},"categories":[833],"tags":[912,908,894],"class_list":["post-14207","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-life-science","tag-biotech","tag-diagnostic","tag-financing"],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v27.2 -
