{"id":14411,"date":"2021-08-31T11:16:54","date_gmt":"2021-08-31T09:16:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ggba.swiss\/the-partnership-between-lonza-and-the-hes-so-valais-wallis-is-yielding-results\/"},"modified":"2023-07-04T13:40:20","modified_gmt":"2023-07-04T11:40:20","slug":"the-partnership-between-lonza-and-the-hes-so-valais-wallis-is-yielding-results","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ggba.swiss\/en\/the-partnership-between-lonza-and-the-hes-so-valais-wallis-is-yielding-results\/","title":{"rendered":"The partnership between Lonza and the HES-SO Valais-Wallis is yielding results"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>One year after its establishment, the partnership between <a href=\"https:\/\/pharma.lonza.com\/about\/locations\/visp-switzerland\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Lonza<\/a> and the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hevs.ch\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">HES-SO Valais-Wallis<\/a> has already largely materialized.<\/p>\n<p>A joint research platform (Advanced Biomanufacturing Lab) specialized in industrial biotechnology was created to meet the challenges of Industry 4.0. With a joint budget of CHF 5.9 million over 10 years, it aims to develop industrial skills in digitization, automation and control of biotechnological processes.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;In order to improve its competitiveness, Lonza must innovate and improve its product development and production processes. The digitization of processes is a key to achieving these goals,&#8221; explains Renzo Cicillini, Head of Lonza&#8217;s Visp site.<\/p>\n<p>In order to develop this platform, professors specialized in bioinformatics, digitalization and industrial automation have been recruited.<\/p>\n<h4>\u00a0Increased synergies in the canton of Valais&#8217; economic fabric<\/h4>\n<p>Other important topics are the development of the curriculum and the integration of training modules at Lonza, a new Bachelor&#8217;s degree program with practical application (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.hevs.ch\/fr\/hautes-ecoles\/haute-ecole-de-gestion\/informatique-de-gestion\/bachelors\/bachelor-integrant-la-pratique-pibs-23181\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">PIBS<\/a>), which allows high school students to go directly into biotechnology training and obtain a Bachelor&#8217;s degree in eight semesters, alternating between study and employment at Lonza, and the creation of a new Bachelor&#8217;s degree program in information and communication systems (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.hevs.ch\/en\/hautes-ecoles\/school-of-engineering\/systems-engineering\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ISC<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0&#8220;The mission of the HES-SO Valais-Wallis is to provide qualified manpower to the economic, socio-sanitary and cultural fabric of the canton of Valais,&#8221; explains Fran\u00e7ois Seppey, Director of the HES-SO Valais-Wallis.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0The partnership will last for a period of ten years.
