{"id":14563,"date":"2021-10-27T09:53:55","date_gmt":"2021-10-27T07:53:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ggba.swiss\/testmate-health-closes-chf-1-6-million-financing-round\/"},"modified":"2023-07-04T13:40:23","modified_gmt":"2023-07-04T11:40:23","slug":"testmate-health-closes-chf-1-6-million-financing-round","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ggba.swiss\/en\/testmate-health-closes-chf-1-6-million-financing-round\/","title":{"rendered":"Testmate Health closes CHF 1.6 million financing round"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Operating from the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.biopole.ch\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Biop\u00f4le<\/a>\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/startlab.biopole.ch\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">StartLab<\/a>, the mission of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.testmatehealth.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Testmate Health<\/a> is to put people in charge of their own sexual health by making accurate testing of sexually transmitted diseases easy and accessible with an at-home test.<\/p>\n<p>Based in Lausanne (canton of Vaud), the start-up has successfully closed an oversubscribed seed round of CHF 1.6 million, with the first closing occurring earlier this spring and the round extended to bring in US-based &amp; women&#8217;s health focused VC\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/rhiaventures.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Rhia Ventures<\/a>. In addition to\u00a0Rhia Ventures,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/nextventures.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Next Ventures for Humanity<\/a>\u00a0and several business angels participated in the financing round.<\/p>\n<p>The participants of the financing round also include medtech experts and investors such as Thomas Zehnder, founders of sexual wellness e-commerce platform Amorana\u00a0Alan Frei and Lukas Speiser, among others. Thomas Zehnder will also join Testmate\u2019s Board of Directors and Elizabeth Bailey, Managing Director of Rhia Ventures, will become Board Observer.<\/p>\n<h4>An award-winning spin-off of the University of Geneva<\/h4>\n<p>With the funds, the start-up plans to accelerate product development and complete pre-clinical studies of their device. Testmate Health\u2019s rapid digital test will for the first time, provide customers with an option for direct at-home self-testing for common sexually transmitted diseases with immediate results.<\/p>\n<p>The award-winning spin-off of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.unige.ch\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">University of Geneva<\/a> gives customers the choice of a hassle-free, simple, easy-to-use immediate urine self-test that enables prompt detection of the for most common STDs: chlamydia, gonorrhea, trichomoniasis and mycoplasma genitalium. Customers can skip the visit to a clinic and don\u2019t have to wait days for a result.
