These new capabilities provide myriad opportunities for security hackers to wreak significant damage for commercial, political, or other gains.<\/p>\n<p>To promote research and education in cyber-defence, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.epfl.ch\/en\/\">EPFL<\/a> and the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ar.admin.ch\/en\/armasuisse-wissenschaft-und-technologie-w-t\/cyber-defence_campus.html\">Cyber-Defence (CYD) Campus<\/a> have jointly launched the \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.epfl.ch\/research\/services\/fund-research\/funding-opportunities\/fellowship-mobility\/cyd-fellowships\/awarded-cyd-fellows\/\">CYD Fellowships \u2013 A Talent Program for Cyber-Defence Research<\/a>.\u201d The 5th call for applications is now open with a<strong> rolling call for <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.epfl.ch\/research\/services\/fund-research\/funding-opportunities\/fellowship-mobility\/cyd-fellowships\/cyd-master-thesis-fellowship\/\">Master Thesis Fellowship<\/a><strong> applications<\/strong>, and with a <strong>deadline of 14 February 2022 (17:00 CEST) for <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.epfl.ch\/research\/services\/fund-research\/funding-opportunities\/fellowship-mobility\/cyd-fellowships\/cyd-doctoral-fellowships\/\">Doctoral<\/a><strong> and <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.epfl.ch\/research\/services\/fund-research\/funding-opportunities\/fellowship-mobility\/cyd-fellowships\/cyd-distinguished-postdoctoral-fellowships\/\">Distinguished Postdoctoral Fellowship<\/a> <strong>applications<\/strong>. Both new applications and re-submissions are strongly encouraged. The related <a href=\"https:\/\/www.epfl.ch\/research\/services\/applicant-workshop\/\">Applicant Workshop<\/a> will be held online on <strong>25 January 2022 from 10:00 to 10:45 (CEST)<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The CYD fellows are hosted by a higher education institution in Switzerland and conduct their research at the CYD Campus located on the premises of EPFL and ETHZ and in its office in Thun.
