The\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/ggba.swiss\/biopole-to-welcome-three-new-buildings-dedicated-to-life-sciences-by-2024\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">construction of an additional 23,000 square meter complex<\/a> was announced in February 2021, and Biop\u00f4le has now signed with Edmond de Rothschild Real Estate SICAV to make the project a reality. This new undertaking further confirms Biop\u00f4le\u2019s and the canton of Vaud\u2019s strong and unique position in the life sciences industry.<\/p>\n<p>The three new buildings will house up to 500 people and have been designed to accomoate both offices and laboratories for companies working in the life sciences sector. They will be located at the south end of the campus, by the Vennes metro stop and next to the Aquatis Aquarium.<\/p>\n<p>Nasri Nahas, CEO of Biop\u00f4le, commented: \u201cBiop\u00f4le offers modern, high-quality infrastructure and an agreeable workplace environment. But we go well beyond that by creating a dynamic ecosystem with community support and stimulating effective networking between entrepreneurs, which are invaluable for our members and enable them to thrive. We are delighted, through this new project and our renewed collaboration with Edmond de Rothschild, to be able to support the expansion of our members at Biop\u00f4le, as well as to welcome new companies to our site.\u2019<\/p>\n<h4>A vibrant life sciences community<\/h4>\n<p>Located at the heart of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.republic-of-innovation.org\/HealthValley\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Health Valley<\/a>, Biop\u00f4le currently hosts around 2,400 people, with more than 130 companies and research institutes present on the site.\u00a0To date, eight buildings with a total floorplan of 54,000 square meters\u00a0have been constructed on the campus since the first building was erected in 2009. In addition to the project developed by Edmond de Rothschild Real Estate SICAV, three more buildings are planned by 2025, two of which will be built for research entities from the Lausanne University Hospital (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.lausanneuniversityhospital.com\/home\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">CHUV<\/a>).
