<\/a>Since I posted\u00a0my inaugural message<\/a>\u00a0last week, I already received two invitations to go visit some potential business locations.\u00a0 If you\u2019re\u00a0following me on LinkedIn<\/a>\u00a0like you should, you know I got an invitation to \u201cPlan-les-Ouates\u201d \u2013 which I\u2019m dying to visit, if only to find out how a town can get such an unpronounceable name.\u00a0 The other was from a nice Italian gentleman named\u00a0Giuseppe Saporita<\/a>. He recommended I check out someplace called \u201cNeuchatel\u201d \u2013 but if that\u2019s in Italy, wouldn\u2019t it be called \u201cNeuchatello\u201d?\u00a0 Already confused!\u00a0 Anyway, thanks for these two invites! Appreciate mucho!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Many other readers have contacted me to ask, \u201cJimmy, it\u2019s obvious that you\u2019re an extraordinarily intelligent and cultured man \u2013 so don\u2019t you have a certain degree of familiarity with Europe already?\u201d (I\u2019m paraphrasing, but that\u2019s the gist of what they all said.)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It\u2019s a fair question, dear readers. And I would like to assure you that the level of my knowledge is high.\u00a0 Very high!\u00a0Well, pretty high. Like everyone in America my age, I was immersed in history throughout my school years.\u00a0 King George III, the French Revolution, ancient Greece, Sir Isaac Newton, Cro-Magnon man, the Monroe doctrine\u2026 Quiz me on any of these fascinating subjects and I could talk for hours.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And speaking of talking, did I mention that I\u2019m bilingual? That\u2019s right, I not only master English but I also had three years of Latin in high school. Amo, amas, amat! Great stuff!\u00a0 Now don\u2019t misunderstand me \u2013 I know that nobody in Europe speaks Latin anymore, at least not in everyday conversations. (Perhaps in legal documents, I\u2019m not really sure.)\u00a0 The main reason for mentioning my special talent in this area is that I\u2019m 100% confident that picking up new languages will come to me as naturally as falling off a log.\u00a0 But then again, it might be nice if I don\u2019t really have to make the effort. Setting up an office somewhere where they understand English could have its advantages.\u00a0 I\u2019ll definitely put that on my checklist.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So what do I already know about Europe?  Plenty!  Just look:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Europe is a continent<\/em>[a]<\/a><\/em> comprising the westernmost <\/em>peninsulas<\/a><\/em> of <\/em>Eurasia<\/a><\/em>,<\/em>[12]<\/a><\/em>[13]<\/a><\/em> located entirely in the <\/em>Northern Hemisphere<\/a><\/em> and mostly in the <\/em>Eastern Hemisphere<\/a><\/em>. It shares the continental landmass of <\/em>Afro-Eurasia<\/a><\/em> with both <\/em>Africa<\/a><\/em> and <\/em>Asia<\/a><\/em>. It is bordered by the <\/em>Arctic Ocean<\/a><\/em> to the north, the <\/em>Atlantic Ocean<\/a><\/em> to the west,\u2026<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Oh, never mind, Wikipedia is just a big bore on the subject.\u00a0 What I do know is that Europe\u2019s a big hodgepodge of different languages, laws, cultures, tax rates, rules, and regulations, apparently all put in place just to get potential investors like me as confused as possible.\u00a0 I\u2019m eager to put down some roots over there, but really \u2013 could anything be more unhelpful than having to sort out this ungodly jumble of different business conditions from one place to the next?\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The more I think about it, the more I think it would be great to get somebody to help me.  I\u2019m going to be investigating this possibility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
