(Part #7 by Jimmy Jackson)"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p id=\"ember1157\">Dear fans,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"ember1159\">Yes, I made my choice!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Am I happy?\u00a0 Oh, I\u2019m more than happy: I\u2019m\u00a0<em>thrilled<\/em>!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"ember1160\">In case you haven\u2019t been following the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/jimmy-chaz-jackson\/recent-activity\/articles\/\">series of scintillating articles<\/a>&nbsp;I\u2019ve been writing about my selection process, let me just summarize it:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"ember1161\">Thanks to some&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/pulse\/call-my-mentor-his-3-tips-locating-european-hq-jimmy-jackson-g1u6e\/\">excellent advice from Abercrombie Jefferson<\/a>, my longtime mentor and ping pong partner, I set aside some quality time to think long and hard about the selection criteria that a European country would have to meet in order to land our new HQ.&nbsp; I noted them all down in my \u201cTop Ten\u201d list of important conditions I thought this country would have to fulfill.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"ember1162\">Pretty soon I realized that I could regroup these top ten criteria into just three things that really mattered:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>What\u2019s the business environment like there?&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Is the country a good place to find people to come work for me with the talent and know-how I need?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>How about the quality of life there?&nbsp; Not much point in being miserable, as Norma, my better half, often reminds me!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"ember1164\">Just about everything in\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/pulse\/what-im-looking-my-top-ten-criteria-jimmy-jackson-puhee\/\">that original top ten list<\/a>\u00a0could be classified as belonging in one of\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/pulse\/narrowing-down-choices-jimmy-jackson-yucye\/\">these three big categories<\/a>.\u00a0 (Direct flights from Indianapolis \u2013 well, I had to let go of that dream.)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/ggba.swiss\/app\/uploads\/2023\/11\/1700033844204-1024x634.jpg\" alt=\"I assiduously compared the countries that had stood out according to my previous homework.\" class=\"wp-image-21348\" width=\"1024\" height=\"634\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ggba.swiss\/app\/uploads\/2023\/11\/1700033844204-1024x634.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/ggba.swiss\/app\/uploads\/2023\/11\/1700033844204-300x186.jpg 300w, https:\/\/ggba.swiss\/app\/uploads\/2023\/11\/1700033844204-768x476.jpg 768w, https:\/\/ggba.swiss\/app\/uploads\/2023\/11\/1700033844204.jpg 1343w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">I assiduously compared the countries that had stood out according to my previous homework.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"ember1167\">Using this new list, I did a quick country comparison.&nbsp; It helped a bit.&nbsp; But then my trusty CFO Beauregard came up with a good idea: making it all visual.&nbsp; So I concocted one of those Vendiagram thingies like consultants do.&nbsp; Good thinking, Beauregard!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"ember1168\">So let me tell you a little more about my thinking.\u00a0 The first big circle, the purple one, was the Business Environment.\u00a0This included the things that would make doing business nice and smooth.\u00a0 You know, stuff like sensible regulations and low taxes, good roads and airports and trains that run on time, a currency that doesn\u2019t fluctuate all over the map, no wild political surprises\u2026 Basically a stable, dependable country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"768\" src=\"https:\/\/ggba.swiss\/app\/uploads\/2023\/11\/1700726359853.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-21351\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ggba.swiss\/app\/uploads\/2023\/11\/1700726359853.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/ggba.swiss\/app\/uploads\/2023\/11\/1700726359853-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/ggba.swiss\/app\/uploads\/2023\/11\/1700726359853-768x576.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">These are the three big things I want \u2013 and why I want them.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"ember1170\">Related to this, but in a separate circle on the diagram (yellow), was Talent.&nbsp; If there\u2019s one thing I\u2019ve learned as a celebrated entrepreneur, if you want your business running nice and smooth, you\u2019ve got to have talented people working for you \u2013 even (painful as it is to admit this) people that occasionally prove to be smarter than you are.&nbsp; So the ideal country would probably be famous for its problem-solving thinkers solving amazing problems, engineers and designers engineering and designing amazing stuff, innovative inventors inventing amazing inventions, and scientists discovering amazing discoveries \u2013 oh yes, and it has a great system of schools that churn these people out like so many little macaroni noodles.&nbsp; What\u2019s more, these talented people are not just seriously smart but friendly, uncomplicated, and principled \u2013 and they like working more than going on strike.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"ember1171\">Where these two big circles overlap on the diagram, you have the makings of a productive country: one with good infrastructure, effective systems, and excellent people, all of which will make my job as \u201cBig Cheese\u201d of Jackson Quantum Ventures easier!&nbsp; It will also help make JQV more competitive \u2013 and you know what that means: bigger bonuses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"ember1172\">The third big circle, the green one, is about the Standard of Living that the country has to offer.&nbsp; The quality of everyday existence.&nbsp; Some of this is institutional, like the good schools I mentioned just above, and an excellent healthcare system (that won\u2019t bankrupt me; that would be nice).&nbsp; But life is not only worth living when you\u2019re in school or the hospital!&nbsp; Even hard-charging entrepreneurs like myself manage to carve out an hour or two of free time every week, and I\u2019ve always believed that it\u2019s nice if this time can be spent doing something enjoyable. I consulted with Norma to get a feeling for some of this \u201csoft\u201d stuff.&nbsp; She reminded me how much I like to eat. &nbsp;Yes, it\u2019s true.&nbsp; So we shouldn\u2019t ignore a country\u2019s culinary culture.&nbsp; And she reminded me that a peaceful stroll in the countryside is occasionally a good thing, too.&nbsp; And then she added that all those talented people I need to hire will probably want to live someplace that\u2019s great for raising a family \u2013 healthy, safe, full of outdoor activities to choose from and resplendent with the glorious bounty of nature all around\u2026&nbsp; OK, OK, Norma, I get it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"ember1173\">She\u2019s right, of course. &nbsp;On the diagram, where the second and third circles overlap, you\u2019ll have a country where talented, ambitious people love to live.&nbsp; Here they can work hard and play hard.&nbsp; And have a wonderful time doing both.&nbsp; Makes sense to me!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"ember1174\">Lastly, when we go back to the diagram, we also see that there\u2019s a space where the first and third circles overlap. This is where the business environment is excellent and the quality of life is superb.
