Their new 3D-printed &#8220;Active Aligners&#8221; contain microchannels that release an antibacterial fluid to prevent plaque buildup, bad breath and tooth decay during dental treatment. The aligners are a breakthrough in the orthodontic market, addressing the hygiene issues that have plagued traditional aligners.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The technology utilizes CSEM&#8217;s patented microchannel design that allows for continuous saliva circulation, which is critical for oral health. &#8220;The microchannels ensure continuous saliva circulation, unlike conventional aligners,&#8221; said Nikola Kalentics, CEO and Founder of Actival. This constant flow of fluid helps protect tooth enamel while maintaining fresh breath, adding significant value to the user experience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Actival&#8217;s &#8220;Active Aligners&#8221; are expected to enter clinical trials, with plans to launch in Switzerland and the US. by the end of 2025. The startup aims to revolutionize the growing global market for clear aligners, which was valued at USD 6.3 billion in 2022 and is expected to grow exponentially in the coming years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>CSEM&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.csem.ch\/en\/start-up-booster-grant\/\">ACCELERATE<\/a> program, which helped bring Active Aligners to market, played a critical role in the product&#8217;s development. &#8220;Without CSEM&#8217;s support, this technology might not have reached its current stage,&#8221; says Cyrill Cattin, group leader at CSEM. The start-up is also a finalist for the prestigious <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bcn.ch\/la-bcn\/soutien\/notre-engagement\/economie-et-innovation\/prix-bcn-innovation#:~:text=Cr%C3%A9%C3%A9e%20en%202008%2C%20cette%20r%C3%A9compense,de%20valeur%20et%20d'emplois.\">BCN
