Renens-based cleantech start-up Inergio<\/a> has reached a significant milestone with the delivery of its first fuel cell power units to customers in Europe and North America. The company, co-founded by Mahmoud Hadad and Luc Conti, is experiencing increasing demand for its innovative and modular energy solutions, which offer high efficiency and fuel flexibility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Following a EUR 1.2 million Eurostars grant in 2023<\/a> to advance its research and development, Inergio is now scaling up operations. The start-up has already supplied its compact power units to nearly 15 customers across Austria, France, the UK, Canada, and the USA, with expectations of expanding its customer base in the coming months. These lightweight fuel cell systems provide clean electricity in off-grid environments and are already being deployed for traffic management, environmental monitoring, video surveillance, and avalanche protection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A spin-off from EPFL<\/a> and HEIG-VD<\/a>, Inergio has developed a modular power system that can be scaled from small IoT devices to larger backup power solutions. The company\u2019s technology supports a wide range of fuels, including propane, natural gas, hydrogen, biogas, and ammonia. This versatility ensures that Inergio\u2019s power units remain viable as cleaner fuels become more widely available, reinforcing the company\u2019s commitment to sustainability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Looking ahead, Inergio plans to expand its assembly line in Renens and increase its production capacity. “Our current focus is on scaling our assembly operations and strengthening our business development team,” said CEO Mahmoud Hadad. Over the next 12 months, the company aims to manufacture up to 100 power units annually, with a long-term goal of producing 1,000 units per year in the canton of Vaud.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With its first commercial shipments and a clear roadmap for growth, Inergio is positioning itself as a key player in the future of off-grid and sustainable energy solutions.
