Bernese spectrometry company TOFWERK<\/a> has been fully acquired by Bruker<\/a>, marking the transition from a strategic partnership to complete ownership. The acquisition follows more than three years of collaboration, during which Bruker held a minority stake and supported TOFWERK\u2019s expansion in applied markets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Founded in 2002, TOFWERK has established itself as a specialist in compact, ultra-fast time-of-flight (TOF) mass spectrometry systems. Its technologies are used in areas including air quality monitoring, atmospheric chemistry, semiconductor cleanroom control, food and fragrance analysis, and focused ion beam (FIB) accessories for electron microscopy. The company has deployed more than 1,000 instruments worldwide and employs around 130 people at its headquarters in Thun.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Expanding applied market reach under Bruker ownership<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

With the acquisition, Bruker consolidates its ownership to 100%, integrating TOFWERK\u2019s TOF-MS technologies into its broader portfolio for small-molecule and applied market applications. According to both companies, TOFWERK will continue to operate as a distinct brand within Bruker, maintaining its Swiss engineering heritage, customer-centric culture and R&D activities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

TOFWERK\u2019s product portfolio includes real-time monitoring solutions such as the Vocus TOF-MS, microwave-induced plasma TOF systems for trace element detection, and proprietary ionisation sources for analysing trace organic and inorganic compounds, including PFAS. The company is also developing new solutions such as a chromatography-free DART-TOF-MS platform aimed at high-throughput applications.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
