{"id":40192,"date":"2026-11-02T10:00:00","date_gmt":"2026-11-02T09:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ggba.swiss\/?p=40192"},"modified":"2026-11-02T08:54:07","modified_gmt":"2026-11-02T07:54:07","slug":"biodelphis-therapeutics-polasight-and-swiss-soil-each-receive-a-chf-100000-tech-seed-loan","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ggba.swiss\/en\/biodelphis-therapeutics-polasight-and-swiss-soil-each-receive-a-chf-100000-tech-seed-loan\/","title":{"rendered":"Biodelphis Therapeutics, PolaSight and Swiss Soil each receive a CHF 100,000 Tech Seed loan"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fondation-fit.ch\/en\/\">Foundation for Innovation and Technology<\/a> (FIT) has awarded a Tech Seed loan of CHF 100,000 to each of three start-ups: Biodelphis Therapeutics, PolaSight and Swiss Soil.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Biodelphis Therapeutics: a targeted osteoporosis treatment<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In osteoporosis, cells that break down bone take over and bones become brittle. Blocking a protein in these cells called cathepsin K can slow the process, but five drugs of this type were discontinued during development, including one in the final phase of clinical trials because of an increased risk of stroke, as they acted throughout the entire body. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.biodelphis.com\/\">Biodelphis Therapeutics<\/a>, a spin-off of EPFL, attaches a small inhibitory molecule to an antibody that delivers it only to bone-degrading cells. The start-up applies the same approach to lung cancer, and its first drug candidates have shown efficacy in animal studies. The loan will help it demonstrate that its osteoporosis treatment does not increase the risk of stroke and carry out an initial study of how the drug behaves in the body, steps that precede the studies required before the first human trials.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">PolaSight: faster diagnosis during cancer surgery<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.polasight.com\/\">PolaSight<\/a>, a spin-off of the University of Bern, has developed PolaOne, a scanner that helps pathologists analyze tissue samples taken during cancer surgery. The standard rapid analysis, called frozen section, usually takes 20 to 40 minutes, during which the patient remains under anesthesia. PolaOne produces a map of the entire fresh sample in about 60 seconds, without stains and without damaging the tissue, so the sample can then go through the usual analysis. It is already used for research in several pathology laboratories to collect data for its clinical validation. The loan will fund the CE marking, targeted for early 2027, and preparations for its first hospital installations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Swiss Soil: continuous monitoring of vineyards<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swisssoil.com\/\">Swiss Soil<\/a> manages vineyards on behalf of winegrowers with AGROSTASIS, a system that combines soil and sap analyses, weather data and images from an automated microscope to assess the condition of soil and vines, identify stress or nutrient deficiency and indicate where to sample and intervene. Its three main components are operational and were developed with HEIG-VD, ETH Zurich and others. In July 2026, Innosuisse approved a two-year project with the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.changins.ch\/\">Changins School of Viticulture<\/a> to test the full system in vineyards in 2027 and 2028. Swiss Soil has signed ten letters of intent and aims for a commercial launch in 2028. The loan will fund its CHF 66,000 contribution to the Innosuisse project and its incorporation as a public limited company ahead of a first funding round, and it releases CHF 100,000 in support
