Lanc\u00e9 par l&rsquo;Agence spatiale europ\u00e9enne, le satellite s&rsquo;est d\u00e9ploy\u00e9 sans heurts et a transmis ses premiers signaux dans l&rsquo;apr\u00e8s-midi.<\/p>\n<p>Pesant un kilogramme et mesurant 10 centim\u00e8tres sur chacune de ses faces, <a href=\"https:\/\/kt.cern\/aerospace\/celesta\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">CELESTA<\/a> (CERN latchup and radmon experiment student satellite) est un CubeSat 1U con\u00e7u pour \u00e9tudier les effets du rayonnement cosmique sur l&rsquo;\u00e9lectronique. Le satellite transporte un <a href=\"https:\/\/kt.cern\/aerospace\/spaceradmon\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Space RadMon<\/a>, une version miniature d&rsquo;un dispositif \u00e9prouv\u00e9 de surveillance des rayonnements d\u00e9ploy\u00e9 dans le <a href=\"https:\/\/home.cern\/science\/accelerators\/large-hadron-collider\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Grand collisionneur de hadrons<\/a> (LHC) du CERN. CELESTA a \u00e9t\u00e9 envoy\u00e9 sur une orbite terrestre de pr\u00e8s de 6\u2019000 kilom\u00e8tres.<\/p>\n<p>\u00ab\u00a0En plein milieu de la ceinture de Van Allen interne, CELESTA \u00e9tudiera une orbite inhabituelle o\u00f9 les niveaux de rayonnement sont les plus \u00e9lev\u00e9s\u00a0\u00bb, explique Markus Brugger, chef du groupe des zones exp\u00e9rimentales du CERN et initiateur des projets CHARM et CELESTA dans le cadre de l&rsquo;initiative R2E (Radiation to Electronics).<\/p>\n<h4>Un exemple phare des technologies du CERN<\/h4>\n<p>Le Space RadMon est un exemple phare de la mani\u00e8re dont les technologies du CERN peuvent avoir des applications au-del\u00e0 des exp\u00e9riences de physique des particules. \u00ab\u00a0Enti\u00e8rement bas\u00e9 sur des composants ultrasensibles normalis\u00e9s, s\u00e9lectionn\u00e9s et \u00e9talonn\u00e9s par le CERN, et principalement dans les installations du CERN, le Space RadMon est un instrument l\u00e9ger et de faible puissance, id\u00e9al pour les futures missions spatiales tol\u00e9rantes aux risques\u00a0\u00bb, explique Ruben Garcia Alia, chef du projet R2E. \u00ab\u00a0Si CELESTA est un succ\u00e8s, le Space RadMon pourrait m\u00eame \u00eatre adapt\u00e9 aux constellations de satellites comme outil de maintenance pr\u00e9dictive des satellites, afin d&rsquo;anticiper leur remplacement, in\u00e9vitable \u00e0 terme.\u00a0\u00bb<\/p>\n<p>Un mod\u00e8le de rayonnement du satellite CELESTA a \u00e9galement \u00e9t\u00e9 test\u00e9 dans <a href=\"https:\/\/kt.cern\/technologies\/charm-mixed-fields\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">CHARM<\/a>, une installation \u00e0 champ mixte du CERN capable de reproduire, dans une large mesure, l&rsquo;environnement de rayonnement de l&rsquo;orbite terrestre basse.
