La soci\u00e9t\u00e9 a r\u00e9cemment men\u00e9 un essai record au monde sur son interface c\u00e9r\u00e9brale extensible \u00e0 64 canaux, offrant une pr\u00e9cision sans pr\u00e9c\u00e9dent dans l&rsquo;identification des tissus \u00e9pileptiques. L&rsquo;\u00e9tude, men\u00e9e au Centre m\u00e9dical universitaire (UMC) d&rsquo;Utrecht, repr\u00e9sente une avanc\u00e9e dans le d\u00e9veloppement d&rsquo;outils de surveillance de l&rsquo;\u00e9pilepsie plus efficaces.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>La nature souple et extensible du dispositif, 1&rsquo;000 \u00e0 100&rsquo;000 fois plus souple que les \u00e9lectrodes traditionnelles, lui permet de se conformer plus \u00e9troitement \u00e0 la surface du cerveau, am\u00e9liorant ainsi la d\u00e9tection des signaux neuronaux tout en minimisant les risques associ\u00e9s \u00e0 la chirurgie invasive. Cette interface haute r\u00e9solution am\u00e9liore la capacit\u00e9 des chirurgiens \u00e0 diff\u00e9rencier les tissus sains des tissus \u00e9pileptiques, r\u00e9duisant ainsi le risque d&rsquo;ablation excessive ou insuffisante de tissus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>L&rsquo;\u00e9tude de faisabilit\u00e9 a d\u00e9but\u00e9 \u00e0 Houston, avec quatre patients, avant l&rsquo;essai pivot men\u00e9 \u00e0 Utrecht par le professeur Maeike Zijlmans. \u00ab La flexibilit\u00e9 de la grille Neurosoft est particuli\u00e8rement utile pour d\u00e9tecter les petites activit\u00e9s \u00e9pileptiques, telles que les oscillations \u00e0 haute fr\u00e9quence, et affiner les limites chirurgicales apr\u00e8s la r\u00e9section initiale des tissus \u00bb, explique-t-elle.
