Distalmotion, a medtech company based in Lausanne, has secured a senior secured term loan facility of up to USD 70 million from Perceptive Advisors to accelerate the US expansion of its DEXTER robotic surgery system in ambulatory surgery centers.

Distalmotion has secured a senior secured term loan facility of up to USD 70 million from Perceptive Advisors, a global healthcare investment firm. Announced on 21 October 2026, the financing will support the company’s expansion in the US ambulatory surgery center (ASC) market and the further development of its DEXTER Robotic Surgery System and instrument portfolio, while strengthening its commercial presence in the United States. The “up to” wording means the full amount may not be drawn, and the interest rate, repayment terms and drawdown schedule were not disclosed.

Robotic surgery for outpatient settings

DEXTER is a soft tissue surgical robot with a small, mobile footprint, a sterile console and a line of single-use, fully wristed instruments. Distalmotion focuses on making robotic surgery available in outpatient settings, including hospital outpatient departments and ASCs. The system is commercially available in the US and Europe. In the US, it is authorized for procedures such as inguinal and ventral hernia repair, cholecystectomy and total benign hysterectomy, as well as several other gynecologic and general surgery procedures, for adult patients aged 22 and older.

Sam Chawla, Portfolio Manager at Perceptive, says DEXTER is “purpose-built for the ongoing shift of high-volume surgery to the ASC, where efficiency is paramount.” Greg Roche, CEO of Distalmotion, says the financing gives the company additional capital to accelerate its US growth strategy.

The loan follows the USD 150 million Series G round led by Revival Healthcare Capital that Distalmotion closed in November 2025.
