Free coding school 42 opens in Lausanne

42 Lausanne, the first campus of 42 in Switzerland, will open its doors in June. As of September 2021, 200 students will be trained in computer programming with an innovative pedagogy based on Peer-to-Peer Learning and Gaming.

Eight years after it was founded in Paris by French tech and telecoms entrepreneur Xavier Niel, 42 will be launched in French-speaking Switzerland. 42 Lausanne will welcome 150 to 200 students next September, most of whom will be trained as web developers. The curriculum lasts from two to four years. It is accessible after a unique selection process in three phases, starting on February 15.

The Lausanne site will focus on issues related to cybersecurity and sustainability in coding. It is supported by several sponsors, including Swisscom, QoQa, Infomaniak, Romande Energie, Open Web Technology and Centre Patronal.

A school like no other

Based on a peer-to-peer learning model, the training provided by 42 is entirely free and open to students from all walks of life, with no previous diploma requirement and no age limit. The 42 Network – which comprises 33 campuses on five continents – aims to train 15,000 students in digital skills over the next three years.
