Bearmind has been named one of eleven winners of the 2026 WIPO Global Awards, organized by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO). The sports-tech company won the Sport category, selected from more than 1,300 applicants across 126 countries.

The WIPO Global Awards recognize start-ups and SMEs that use intellectual property strategically to grow their business, reach new markets and attract partners and investment. Winners were assessed on their business case and IP portfolio, their commercialization strategy, their internal IP culture and their contribution to societal challenges. Bearmind develops sensor technology that monitors head impacts in contact sports, integrated into equipment such as ice hockey helmets, to help protect athlete health and support performance.

Its intellectual property strategy has helped the company expand across Europe and North America, establish partnerships with professional hockey organizations and national federations, collaborate with leading equipment manufacturers and research institutions, and bring its technology into elite competition.

The eleven winners were announced at the official WIPO Global Awards Ceremony on 10 July 2026, held during the WIPO Assemblies in Geneva. As part of the award, they receive a two-day intellectual property and business workshop in Geneva, a six-month mentoring package, and access to the Global Awards alumni network of investors, accelerators and corporates.
