The Bern University of Applied Sciences (BFH) has established the Generative AI Lab to advance AI technology for creating new content such as text, images, and music.

The rapid development of generative artificial intelligence offers enormous opportunities for companies, but also poses significant challenges in deciding on the best application of these technologies. To address these challenges, the Bern University of Applied Sciences (BFH) has established the Generative AI Lab, a cutting-edge research facility dedicated to exploring and advancing the capabilities of AI in the creation of new content across multiple media.

This innovative lab is based on the long-standing expertise of the Applied Machine Intelligence (AMI) research group, which has been actively involved in AI research and development projects in various industries. The Generative AI Lab is equipped with specific infrastructure designed to test and demonstrate the use of new AI technologies for partner organizations through case studies.

The lab is led by Prof. Dr. Mascha Kurpicz-Briki, who oversees language models, and Dr. Souhir Ben Souissi, who leads the multimedia models team. This dual leadership ensures a comprehensive approach to the many aspects of generative AI.

The Generative AI Lab at BFH aims to bridge the gap between cutting-edge AI research and practical applications, helping companies unlock the full potential of generative AI. Leveraging BFH’s expertise in multimedia models, the lab is dedicated to advancing the ways AI can create and manage digital content effectively, fostering innovation and efficiency in various industries.

BFH’s new Generative AI Lab provides a collaborative environment for various stakeholders, including small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), start-ups, and government agencies. This initiative will play a crucial role in guiding these entities through the transformative journey of adopting and integrating generative AI technologies, ultimately contributing to innovation and efficiency in the digital age.
