Geneva-based start-ups Plair, Endotelix, and Dr. Beat Walpoth have received the Fongit Innovation Fund (FIF) for their remarkable innovations.

The FIF aims to promote innovation and scaling up of promising companies in the canton of Geneva, focusing on projects that contribute to the United Nations (UN) Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). It is supported by the State of Geneva, the Geneva Chamber of Commerce (CCIG), the United Nations International Trade Center (ITC), and the United Nations Environment agency.

Plair SA, a spin-off from the University of Geneva, received a growth loan of CHF 300,000. The company specializes in the development, manufacturing, and commercialization of professional systems for preventive environment monitoring, using proprietary cutting-edge technology in their intelligent detectors. Founded by two University of Geneva PhDs in Physics, Plair’s innovations can identify allergens, air pollution, bacteria, and virus aerosols in real-time.

Medtech company Endotelix Diagnostics Sàrl, another University of Geneva spin-off, was granted a seed loan of CHF 100,000. The company focuses on providing fast, sensitive, and reliable solutions for Anti Phospholipid Syndrome (APS), a leading cause of stroke, heart attacks, deep vein blood clots, and pregnancy losses among young people. Endotelix offers diagnostic tests and therapies to combat APS.

Dr. Beat Walpoth from the University of Geneva was awarded a CHF 50,000 grant for his groundbreaking research in developing novel coatings for cardiovascular devices. With over 40 years of experience in cardiovascular surgery and research, Dr. Walpoth is a renowned expert in medical devices, biomaterials, tissue engineering, and regenerative medicine.
