SolidWatts has raised EUR 850,000 in a pre-seed funding round led by Evercurious VC, with participation from Switzerland’s Kickfund, COREangels Climate, and prominent angel investors. The funds will accelerate the development of its clean industrial heating solutions and expand its market presence.

Founded in 2022, SolidWatts specializes in solid-state Radio Frequency (RF) technology for industrial heating processes. The company’s Solid State Power Amplifiers (SSPAs) provide a highly efficient, scalable, and clean alternative to fossil fuel-based systems, with energy efficiencies exceeding 85%. The technology is suitable for diverse applications, including food processing, chemical production, plastics recycling, and green steel manufacturing.

Industrial heating processes account for 20% of global energy demand and contribute 10% of worldwide CO₂ emissions, releasing 3.6 billion tons annually. SolidWatts’ innovative RF technology enables the electrification of these processes, presenting a sustainable solution to a significant global challenge.

In the company’s press release, CEO Markus Aicheler emphasized the potential impact: “This investment empowers the development and deployment of our technology, helping industries significantly reduce their reliance on fossil fuels. Electrifying even 1% of these processes using SolidWatts’ technology could eliminate 36 million tonnes of CO₂ each year, equivalent to removing 7.8 million cars from the road.”

A bright future for clean industrial energy

The pre-seed funding will support SolidWatts in scaling its RF generators to megawatt power levels, meeting the growing demand for clean, large-scale industrial heating. Additionally, the company plans to expand its team by recruiting specialized engineering and business professionals and strengthen partnerships with key industry players to accelerate the adoption of electrified heating processes.

With this funding, SolidWatts is positioned to lead the industrial energy transition, modernizing process heating while contributing to significant carbon reductions. Recognized as a Top 100 Swiss Startup in 2024, the company continues to leverage its collaboration with CERN and other partners to drive technological advancements.
