By opening three new interdisciplinary oncology Centers, the CHUV is strengthening its unique capacity to offer patients the best specialists and innovations to better fight all forms of cancer.

The Lausanne University Hospital (CHUV) is expanding its strategy to better fight all forms of cancer. With the opening of three new interdisciplinary oncology Centers (brain and spinal cord; liver-pancreas; ENT and cervicofacial tumors), the CHUV is strengthening its unique capacity to provide patients with the best specialists and the most advanced innovations, allowing for personalized care and rapid access to the best treatments.

Already a pioneer in 2009 with the opening of an Interdisciplinary Oncology Center (IOC) for breast, then for prostate and thoracic tumors (2015), sarcomas (2016), gynecological tumors (2017), and neuroendocrine tumors (2019), the CHUV is unveiling three new Centers dedicated to specific types of cancer : ENT and cervicofacial tumor; liver-pancreas tumor; and brain and spinal cord. This strategy reiterates the importance of the CHUV as a hospital specialized in the global management of cancer treatments :

  • The ENT and Cervical-Facial Tumor Center specializes in the treatment of tumors in the oral cavity, pharynx, larynx, salivary glands, thyroid and parathyroid glands.
  • The Liver-Pancreas Tumor Center specializes in the treatment of cancers affecting the bile ducts and organs of the liver and pancreas.
  • The Brain and Spinal Cord Tumor Center brings together a team of internationally renowned specialists and treats tumors of the brain and spinal cord.

A therapeutic approach tailored to each patient

In view of the rapid evolution of knowledge and developments specific to each type of treatment, the sharing of skills has become essential for the proper management of oncological pathologies. This interdisciplinarity makes it possible to define a personalized therapeutic strategy for each patient.

Designed as centers of expertise and coordinated care, the CHUV’s interdisciplinary oncology Centers provide patients with appropriate care for each type of cancer.
