Xsensio partners with Mayo Clinic to develop innovative wearable products for early detection of acute health events.

Xsensio has revolutionized wearables with new device that tracks biochemical data in interstitial fluid (ISF) on skin. Its 5x5mm Lab-on-Skin chip uses advanced nanotechnology, biochemistry, and microfluidics to collect and analyze ISF in real-time, revealing valuable insights into the wearer’s physiological state.

The start-up, which is based at the EPFL Innovation Park in Lausanne (canton of Vaud), has announced a partnership with Mayo Clinic to accelerate innovation in wearable health monitoring technology. Mayo Clinic’s clinical and product development experts will provide support for Xsensio’s proprietary technology, which continuously collects and analyzes biochemical data in real-time for early detection of critical health events. The aim is to improve personalized patient care and enhance remote monitoring capabilities.

Mayo Clinic is a leading, non-profit healthcare organization where a team of experts from various medical specialties work together to improve patient care through cutting-edge research and innovation. “This collaboration will provide key insights for the use of our proprietary Lab-on-Skin sensing platform for critical care in the hospital and at home. We are very excited to establish a collaboration with Mayo Clinic,” said Esmeralda Megally, CEO and Co-Founder of Xsensio.

The partnership includes a transfer of know-how and a stock purchase agreement for the development of Xsensio’s Lab-On-Skin sensor platform. Mayo Clinic operates from its main campuses and over 70 additional locations. It has a workforce of 63,000, including over 4,500 physicians and scientists. The organization holds a financial stake in the technology and any revenue generated will be utilized to further its mission of providing patient care, education, and research.
