EPFL spin-off Verretex has secured CHF 1.2 million in dilutive and non-dilutive funding to expand its industrial production of recycled glass fiber textiles and accelerate its entry into new markets.
Saint-Sulpice-based cleantech start-up Verretex has closed a CHF 1.2 million funding round, combining dilutive and non-dilutive capital, to strengthen its industrial operations and scale the production of its circular glass fiber textiles. The EPFL spin-off, founded by CEO Mitchell Anderson alongside Lidia Rocoffort de Vinnière, Pierre Wüst, and Nour Halawani, develops a proprietary upcycling process that regenerates end-of-life composite waste into high-performance nonwoven materials.
Industries including wind energy, automotive, aerospace, and marine face mounting pressure to replace virgin glass fiber materials, driven by rising costs and tightening sustainability regulations. Conventional recycling methods degrade fiber quality and render the output unsuitable for structural applications, leaving most composite waste destined for incineration or landfill. Verretex addresses this gap by cleaning glass fibers at the microscopic level to restore their mechanical properties, producing a drop-in replacement for virgin materials that requires no retooling of existing manufacturing workflows.
The company has already demonstrated commercial traction, with product validation across multiple sectors. A pilot study conducted with wind turbine manufacturer Ryse Energy confirmed that Verretex’s recycled textile meets rigorous blade strength and durability standards, with no modifications to production equipment or schedules required.
The funding will accelerate production capacity ahead of broader market entry, targeting a global recycled glass fiber textiles market projected to reach USD 1.5 billion by 2030.
