Salesforce has announced plans to invest USD 1 billion in Switzerland over the next five years to accelerate the country’s agentic AI transformation. The commitment, unveiled by Chair and CEO Marc Benioff in Geneva ahead of the AI for Good Global Summit, is intended to support the company’s local workforce, its Swiss customers and partners, and AI skills development across the country.

The announcement underscores Geneva’s role at the center of international AI governance. The city hosts the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), the World Economic Forum and dozens of international organizations, and Switzerland is due to host the Global AI Summit in 2027. During the summit, Benioff is set to co-chair the first meeting of the AI for Good Global Commission alongside Rwandan President Paul Kagame and ITU Secretary-General Doreen Bogdan-Martin, bringing together more than 40 heads of state, chief executives and leaders of international organizations.

Salesforce opened its first Swiss office in 2004, one of its earliest in Europe, and today operates offices in Zurich and Lausanne, serving more than 1,000 customers and working with over 100 partners across the Swiss economy. Its technology also supports more than 480 Swiss nonprofits and higher education organizations.

The company said the investment would help Swiss organizations across banking, life sciences and energy adopt its Agentforce platform, which brings together people, AI agents and data. Salesforce also runs Swiss workforce and education initiatives, including its Bring Women Back to Work program, launched in Switzerland in 2020, and the Davos Codes program for local students, and has contributed more than USD 7.5 million in grants to Swiss nonprofits and higher education institutions.
