Vaud-based start-up BE WTR has successfully closed its CHF 39 million Series C funding round, furthering its mission to revolutionize sustainable water consumption.

BE WTR is known for its advanced water purification and distribution systems that set new standards in the residential, commercial and hospitality sectors. Its flagship innovation, the BE WTR AQTiV range, focuses on water activation and has been installed in high-end restaurants, five-star hotels, modern offices and private homes in Switzerland, the United Arab Emirates, France, Sweden, Singapore and Canada.

A core element of BE WTR’s sustainable approach is its compact bottling plants located at the point of consumption or in city centers. These plants provide locally sourced bottled water and reduce transportation and packaging waste. The most recent plant, which opened in the 18th arrondissement of Paris in September 2024, has received significant media attention. The next site is scheduled to open in Abu Dhabi in November, and BE WTR aims to operate more than 20 bottling sites by the end of 2025.

A significant impact on the future of water consumption worldwide

The Series C round was led by Convent Capital, a Dutch agri-food growth equity fund, with continued support from existing investors including PeakBridge and Edmond de Rothschild Direct Investments. Mike Hecker, CEO and Founder of BE WTR, expressed his excitement about the new partnership, stating: “This funding will allow us to scale our circular bottling plants globally, expand our product offerings and drive further innovation in the water industry.”

Convent Capital’s participation highlights their commitment to impact-driven businesses. “BE WTR is uniquely positioned to address sustainability challenges related to water consumption,” said Dirk Hoorn, Founding Partner of Convent Capital. With this new investment, BE WTR plans to expand its reach into North American and Chinese markets, invest in research and development, and enhance its portfolio of sustainable water solutions.
