Blockchain-based agritech Farmer Connect wins over Japan
2 November 2021

Farmer Connect has just announced its first Swiss partnership with Lausanne-based coffee roaster The Good Life and is officially launching in Japan, a key market.
Farmer Connect is an agritech whose digitalization solutions are designed to improve the traceability, efficiency and sustainability of coffee and cocoa supply chains globally. These solutions promote fair, inclusive and efficient agriculture from farmers to consumers. Farmer Connect leverages several emerging technologies, such as blockchain, self-sovereign identity and artificial intelligence.
After raising USD 9 million in March 2021 in a Series A investment round, Farmer Connect has continued to expand in recent months and has acquired several customers such as Hema, UCC and Atlantic Grupa and Segafredo Massimo Zanetti.
Since the beginning of the year, the start-up has been collaborating with the latter for its Segafredo Storia coffee, a new line of sustainable coffees that takes traceability to a new level thanks to the start-up’s solutions and blockchain technology, among other things.
Meanwhile, Farmer Connect has just signed its first Swiss partnership with Lausanne-based roaster The Good Life Coffee. Thanks to its platform, this coffee will become the first fully traceable coffee in Switzerland.
Building a presence in Asia
Farmer Connect is also expanding in Asia with the launch of the Japanese version of its Thank My Farmer application, aimed at consumers who will be able to find reviews from well-known baristas or opinions from influencers, as well as a series of contests.
Following the participation of Itochu, Japan’s leading commodity trader, in the first Series A investment round last March, Farmer Connect’s disruptive approach has attracted Japanese coffee roaster Philocoffea, which was founded by star barista Tetsu Kasuya.
