Citrix acquires Trust Valley cybersecurity start-up Strong Network
17 December 2024
Citrix, a leader in secure application and desktop delivery, has acquired cybersecurity start-up Strong Network to bolster its platform’s security capabilities. The acquisition addresses the growing need for cyber resilience in hybrid work environments.
As businesses increasingly adopt hybrid work models, secure access to applications across managed and unmanaged devices remains a critical challenge. Citrix, a unit of Cloud Software Group, has announced the acquisition of Lausanne-based Strong Network, a cybersecurity start-up co-founded by serial entrepreneur Laurent Balmelli.
Strong Network’s technology enhances Citrix’s ability to isolate and secure access to mission-critical applications deployed in on-premises and cloud environments. This move also complements Citrix’s recent acquisition of German firm deviceTRUST, further expanding its capabilities in zero-trust access. These additions enable companies to securely manage user needs in hybrid work scenarios while reducing risks of data breaches and loss.
“With the evolution of hybrid work, the demand for cyber resilience has only intensified,” said Sridhar Mullapudi, Executive Vice President and General Manager at Citrix. “By integrating Strong Network’s secure access technologies into the Citrix platform, we’re helping customers simplify and secure hybrid deployments.”
A milestone for Western Switzerland innovation
Strong Network’s platform focuses on securing cloud-based development workflows, ensuring businesses can efficiently build, launch, and access applications without compromising security. Key features include data loss prevention and patented data infiltration detection, which protect against phishing, malware, and credential theft—critical safeguards for BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) environments.
The platform aligns with stringent compliance standards such as NIST and ISO, offering businesses clear visibility and control over the application lifecycle while safeguarding sensitive data.
Founded in 2020 within the Trust Valley region, Strong Network has achieved rapid success, securing international clients such as Broadcom and earning multiple industry awards. For Laurent Balmelli, co-founder alongside Ozrenko Dragic, this marks a second successful exit following the sale of Strong.codes to Snapchat in 2017.
