With more than 1,000 listed organizations, Micronarc’s new interactive map offers an unprecedented overview of the region’s micro- and nanotechnology expertise. By consolidating key information on the region’s actors and capabilities, Micronarc’s interactive map becomes both a discovery tool and a networking catalyst, reinforcing Western Switzerland’s position as a European reference point for micro- and nanotechnology innovation.

With more than 1,000 listed organizations, Micronarc’s new interactive map offers an unprecedented overview of the region’s micro- and nanotechnology expertise.

Micronarc, the regional platform dedicated to promoting Western Switzerland’s micro- and nanotechnology sector, has launched a new interactive map highlighting the full spectrum of innovation across the region. The tool identifies over 1,000 organizations, from SMEs and start-ups to research centers and universities, active in fields such as precision engineering, advanced manufacturing, sensors, photonics, microelectronics, and materials science.

Developed to strengthen visibility and foster collaboration, the map enables users to explore the ecosystem by canton, expertise, market, product, or service. It provides a clear, data-driven picture of a sector that underpins many of Switzerland’s world-leading industries, from medtech and watchmaking to robotics and aerospace.

Mapping excellence in micro- and nanotechnologies

Western Switzerland stands out as one of the world’s most dynamic regions for high-precision innovation. Institutions such as EPFL, HE-Arc, HEIG-VD and CSEM, along with leading innovation centers like Campus Biotech in Geneva, the HEIA-FR’s iPrint Institute in Fribourg, and the Bern University of Applied Sciences (BFH), form a tightly connected ecosystem where research, education, and industry converge across the region.

Micronarc’s new digital tool builds on this legacy by making it easier for stakeholders, from investors to researchers, to identify potential partners and emerging technologies. By visualizing the density and diversity of the regional ecosystem, the platform supports Micronarc’s broader mission: to connect, promote, and strengthen Western Switzerland’s leadership in micro- and nanotechnologies.
