PeriVision and Swistor each receive a CHF 100,000 FIT Tech Seed loan

Two innovative start-ups from the canton of Vaud, PeriVision and Swistor, have each received a Tech Seed loan from the FIT to support their development.
PeriVision makes eye exams accessible to everyone using virtual reality and recognition algorithms. Swistor develops supercapacitors that will replace or supplement traditional batteries in our devices. Both start-ups have received a CHF 100,000 Tech Seed loan from the Foundation for Technological Innovation (FIT), allowing PeriVision to continue developing its eye tests and prepare for market entry, and Swistor to finalize its product and bring it to market.
Eye exams enter a new era with PeriVision
The elderly population, most susceptible to eye diseases, increases annually, but current eye examination technologies are outdated and unreliable. To make diagnostics more efficient and faster, Biopôle-based PeriVision develops a simple solution using virtual reality and powerful recognition algorithms to detect emerging eye diseases. Its patented artificial intelligence and software currently support virtual reality perimetry, the first step towards fully operational telemedicine. PeriVision‘s software initially focuses on glaucoma, a chronic eye disease causing blindness and affecting 80 million patients worldwide.
The start-up’s patented artificial intelligence algorithm and software enable a new perimetry test, the eye exam used to detect visual defects and disease progression. With the FIT Tech Seed loan, PeriVision will now continue investing in its platform development, conduct several clinical studies in hospitals in Switzerland, the United States, and the United Kingdom, and prepare the market entry of its first virtual reality perimetry product.
Swistor: Modern energy storage technology for a clean future
Swistor is developing an entirely new battery technology called “supercapacitor” that will radically change our way of storing energy. Smaller and more reliable, this technology concentrates more energy than current batteries.
The start-up aims to replace or supplement conventional batteries in portable devices with high energy density supercapacitors. Not only do these supercapacitors not contain rare earths, but they can also withstand many more charge cycles (>30,000) and more extreme temperatures (between -40 and +80° C).
The CHF 100,000 FIT loan will be used to establish Swistor’s industrialization strategy and test industrial processes, as well as to establish the supply chain and validate the market entry strategy.
