Bernese deeptech company Spacetek Technology AG has raised CHF 9.6 million to scale its space-inspired time-of-flight mass spectrometry systems used in leading semiconductor facilities worldwide.

Spacetek Technology AG, a Bern-based deeptech company specializing in real-time industrial process analysis, has closed a CHF 9.6 million financing round combining equity investment from existing shareholders with a loan guarantee from the Swiss Technology Fund and Growth Credit from UBS. The new capital will support the company’s global expansion, strengthen its product roadmap and scale deployments across semiconductor, aerospace and other high-precision industries.

Spacetek develops advanced time-of-flight mass spectrometry (TOF-MS) systems designed to analyze gas composition in real time, allowing manufacturers to optimize processes, reduce waste and improve yields. Originally rooted in aerospace engineering, the company’s proprietary SPACE DNA design philosophy focuses on reliability, low maintenance and performance under mission-critical conditions. Spacetek’s systems are already in use at several of the world’s most advanced semiconductor fabrication sites.

The Technology Fund’s investment decision followed an extensive due-diligence process confirming both the environmental and operational benefits of Spacetek’s technology. According to the company, customers using its real-time metrology platform have already achieved measurable CO₂ reductions and significant efficiency gains, underscoring the role of metrology as a strategic enabler in advanced manufacturing.

“We are entering the most critical phase of growth,” said Maximilian Rothenberger, CEO of Spacetek Technology AG. “This financing enables us to accelerate global deployments, expand our technology roadmap and support an industry increasingly reliant on precise, clean and efficient process control.”

Pushing technological limits

As demand increases for nanometer-level precision and sustainable production in semiconductor manufacturing, metrology solutions such as Spacetek’s are becoming essential infrastructure for next-generation fabrication lines. Beyond the cleanroom, the company is also extending its TOF-MS technology into high-reliability applications for European and U.S. space programs.

To support its development, Spacetek has strengthened its leadership team with three senior appointments: Samuel Rensing as Chief Operating Officer, Dr. Niklas Ermann as Chief Technology Officer and Gunnar Schröder as Chief Commercial Officer. Their combined expertise across high-tech operations, deeptech R&D and global sales will support the company’s next growth phase.

Board Chairman Christian Studer noted that the financing marks a significant milestone for the company. “We are proud to support a team pushing technological limits while delivering tangible environmental impact.”
