Voltiris secures CHF 4.8 million to transform solar energy use in greenhouses
28 January 2025

Voltiris has raised CHF 4.8 million in seed financing to advance its innovative solar energy solutions for greenhouses. Co-led by EquityPitcher Ventures and 3M Ventures, the funding supports the commercialization of its proprietary spectral filtering technology across Europe.
Lausanne-based Voltiris is transforming greenhouse agriculture with its solar modules specifically designed for greenhouse environments. These systems use spectral filtering technology to allow crops to receive the light wavelengths necessary for photosynthesis while directing unused wavelengths to solar panels for energy generation. This groundbreaking approach enables growers to produce clean energy without compromising plant growth or yield.
The CHF 4.8 million seed round, which included contributions from Climate Tech VC fund Satgana and prominent family offices, reflects growing confidence in Voltiris’ potential to address the energy and sustainability needs of high-tech greenhouses, a market valued at USD 60 billion.
The funding will enable Voltiris to scale its operations in Switzerland, France, the Netherlands, and Belgium. Additionally, the company plans to enhance its technological capabilities, further optimizing the return on investment for greenhouse growers. “This funding marks a pivotal moment for Voltiris as we expand our commercial footprint and continue enhancing our technological edge,” said Nicolas Weber, Co-Founder and CEO of Voltiris.
A bright future for agrivoltaics
Over the past two years, Voltiris has achieved notable milestones, including 12 commercial projects with leading European growers, partnerships with energy utilities like Elektra Baselland and Romande Energie, and recognition through multiple industry awards.
The spectral filtering technology has proven effective on crops such as tomatoes, cucumbers, and peppers, delivering efficient energy production while enhancing greenhouse climates and promoting healthier crop growth.
“With this new round of funding, Voltiris is poised to scale operations significantly,” said Sascha Horrig, Founding Partner at EquityPitcher. “We’re excited to support their journey and broaden the integration of agronomy and solar energy.” By combining agronomy and solar energy, Voltiris is paving the way for a sustainable future in agriculture. Its innovative technology not only supports the decarbonization of greenhouse operations but also ensures growers can achieve energy independence, reinforcing its position as a leader in agrivoltaics.
