Why Switzerland

AgriCo is a unique innovation site in Switzerland dedicated to the agrifood, agritech, nutrition and biomass sectors.

Located in Saint-Aubin in the canton of Fribourg, AgriCo Swiss Campus for Agri & Food Innovation is a site dedicated to value creation in the fields of agriculture, nutrition and biomass. An initiative of the canton of Fribourg, it was designed to meet the needs of the entire value chain, from research to production, and is part of an ecosystem that fosters innovation through multiple synergies between private, institutional and academic players.

The AgriCo campus covers a total area of 1 million square meters, with 98 hectares of agricultural land for large-scale testing, 150,000 square meters of industrial building space, 9,000 square meters of administrative and laboratory space, and 36,000 square meters of community space and natural areas.

A unique campus in Switzerland

The AgriCo campus is a one-of-a-kind innovation park. It brings together skills and knowledge from different fields and also fosters collaboration between players in the agricultural and food sectors, which can lead to the development of new projects and the creation of jobs in these sectors.

The AgriCo campus also provides training opportunities for students, researchers and professionals in the fields of agriculture, nutrition and biomass.

The site hosts several innovative companies active in the fields of food and agriculture. Among them are Alver, who produces food based on Golden Chlorella, Lowimpact food, who upcycles by-products from various local beer and fruit juice producers through the breeding of edible insects, as well as Maison Amarella, who produces high-end macaroons.

Numerous future developments

AgriCo is planning new construction as part of its real estate strategy, which will include the construction of offices, laboratories and production areas. The second phase will run from 2023 to 2026 and will also include service areas and a parking garage.

The third phase from 2027 to 2030 will include the construction of offices, laboratories and production halls, as well as service and accommodation areas. The fourth stage from 2031 to 2034 will include the construction of new offices and laboratories, with the possibility of an additional office tower.

Meeting the food challenges of tomorrow

The projected developments on the AgriCo campus will strengthen its attractiveness to companies and stimulate research with the aim of developing new solutions for sustainable agriculture and creating new innovative food products to meet the food challenges of the future.

In the long term, AgriCo is set to become a key location for collaboration and innovation, making a crucial contribution to the economic development of the canton of Fribourg and propelling it into a leading position in the Swiss agri-food sector. The campus will create added value and train the next generation of professionals in the fields of agriculture, nutrition and biomass.
