“Agri&Food in the Canton of Fribourg” is an 11-part video series that delves into the vibrant and evolving agrifood sector of the canton of Fribourg.

“Lighthouse Programs” focuses on Fribourg’s strategic development initiatives for its agrifood sector. The “Fribourg Agri&Food” program, established through a participatory process involving various stakeholders, has led to the creation of three key initiatives: Valorization of Biomass, Agriculture 4.0, and the Food and Farm Living Lab.

These programs aim to foster innovation and sustainable practices. The Valorization of Biomass project, for example, explores new commercial uses for whey, a cheese byproduct. Agriculture 4.0 integrates advanced technologies like drone and satellite data for precision agriculture, enhancing sustainability. The Food and Farm Living Lab offers startups the opportunity to test and refine products in line with consumer preferences.

Supported by a CHF 1 million annual investment from the government, these initiatives not only add dynamism to the sector but also address critical societal issues like food waste and efficient agriculture.

From the robust economic impact and innovative strategies to the sustainable practices and collaborative efforts shaping the future of agrifood in the region, each episode of the “Agri&Food in the canton of Fribourg” video series provides unique insights into why Fribourg is fast becoming a leading hub for agrifood and agritech innovation.
