Geneva-based Agora Care has closed a financing round of CHF 2.2 million to support its expansion into the US market and increase patient enrollment in Switzerland and Europe.

Agora Care, founded in 2022, provides a patient-centric platform for medical image storage and communication. This platform allows patients to control their medical images via a web-based interface, enabling seamless sharing of imaging results with healthcare providers worldwide. The start-up has already raised CHF 1.8 million in previous rounds and has launched clinical pilots in the Health Valley region.

Agora Care addresses a significant problem in the medical field: the difficulty of accessing and managing medical imaging data across multiple healthcare facilities. Patients often undergo repeated imaging exams due to the inability to access previous results, resulting in unnecessary radiation exposure, higher healthcare costs, and potential delays in diagnosis and treatment. Agora Care’s platform centralizes all imaging data, enabling patients and providers to quickly and securely access a comprehensive medical history.

Of the CHF 2.2 million raised, two million came from convertible loans and the remainder from direct investments from existing shareholders and new private investors. CEO and Founder Osman Ratib emphasized that this capital will help reduce costs by eliminating duplicate testing, benefiting managed care networks with capitated financial models. Ratib commented: “By giving patients a personal account where all their medical imaging data will be stored in one place available anytime anywhere.”

The new online registration feature will allow patients to open their accounts directly from Agora Care’s website, with a personal identification system that enables the retrieval and transfer of imaging data from different centers. Ratib added: “This new feature allows us to promote Agora Care among patient associations of chronic diseases, cancer, and rare diseases, benefiting from a central repository for their continual medical journey and follow-up.”
