Phoenix Pharma Switzerland has announced the relocation of its Swiss headquarters to the Businesspark Liebefeld in Köniz, bringing 100 new jobs to the canton of Bern.

Phoenix Pharma Switzerland, a leading pharmaceutical distributor and operator of the Benu pharmacy chain, has announced the relocation of its Swiss headquarters to the Businesspark Liebefeld in Köniz, in the canton of Bern. This strategic move is expected to create approximately 100 new jobs, marking one of the most significant corporate relocations in Bern in recent years.

The company, which is part of the German Phoenix Group, Europe’s largest pharmaceutical wholesaler, is consolidating its operations under one roof. In addition to its Swiss headquarters, the move includes the offices of its pharmacy chain Benu, pharmaceutical wholesaler Pharmapost and online health retailer Health and Life. Employees from the company’s former offices in Unterentfelden and Villars-sur-Glâne have been offered positions at the new location, with additional positions expected to be created as the company continues to grow.

The decision to relocate to Bern is driven by Phoenix’s strategy to expand its presence in German-speaking Switzerland and its proximity to health authorities and government institutions. According to Martial Barbier, General Director of Phoenix Pharma Switzerland, the move will strengthen the company’s administrative resources and support its goal to expand throughout Switzerland. Phoenix aims to expand its network of Benu pharmacies from the current 103 sites to 120-150 sites in the coming years.

The move to the Liebefeld Business Park also brings new life to a site that has been largely vacant since Swisscom, one of the area’s major tenants, left in 2021. Phoenix joins other companies such as Blutspende SRK and Nau Media, as well as educational institutions recently established by the canton of Bern.
